Amoore is new UCT Legacy Society President

Former registrar and new UCT Legacy Society President Hugh Amoore met members of the society for the first time on 22 March 2018.

Amoore, whose career at UCT spanned 42 years, takes over the society's presidency from Emeritus Professor Francis Wilson, who had taken the reigns from the society's first president, former Vice-Chancellor Dr Stuart Saunders, at the end of 2010. The Legacy Society is the official vehicle for alumni and staff who wish to bequeath a donation to UCT.

In his address to society members at the 22 March event, which was held at the Protea Hotel in Mowbray, Amoore shared his thoughts on current developments in South Africa's higher education institutions. Watch Amoore's full speech below.
