UCT graduates, diplomates and certificants: 1948 to 1968
Emeritus Professor Howard Phillips’s new UCT under Apartheid, part 1: 1948-1968 – From Onset to Sit-In (Jacana, 2019) refers readers to this site for a list of graduates of the period. Howard Phillips is a graduate of UCT and London University and taught in the Department of Historical Studies and the Department of Public Health at UCT from 1974 to 2014. He specialises in the history of disease, medicine and health and in the history of higher education and has written several books in these fields, among which are At the Heart of Healing: Groote Schuur Hospital 1938–2008, In a Time of Plague: Memories of the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918 in South Africa and UCT 1918–1948: The Formative Years.
